Celebrating 26 Years Since Ismail Rasheed’s Admission to the Bar

Today, IR Legal proudly celebrates our Founder and Legal Practice Director, Ismail Rasheed, as he marks 26 years since his admission to the Bar.

Over more than two and a half decades, Ismail has built an extensive legal career across Australia and New Zealand, with experience spanning immigration, tax, commercial and business law, litigation and dispute resolution.

After graduating from the University of Waikato, Ismail began his career in New Zealand and spent 16 years with New Zealand Inland Revenue, working across corporate investigations, international tax, binding rulings, adjudications and complex tax disputes.

One of Ismail’s greatest professional achievements has been the establishment and growth of IR Legal. What began as a sole practitioner practice has grown under his leadership into a full-service Trans-Tasman law firm, with a team of across all Australian states and territories and New Zealand.

Throughout his career, Ismail has represented and advised hundreds of individuals and businesses, including in complex immigration and Section 501 matters, tax disputes and commercial matters.

His contribution to the profession was recognised in 2025 when he was named a Finalist for Australian Sole Practitioner of the Year and a Finalist for Queensland Solicitor of the Year (Sole Practitioner).

From 26 years since admission to the Bar to building a full-service Trans-Tasman law firm, this milestone reflects a career defined by legal excellence, experience, leadership, determination and an unwavering commitment to clients.
