IR Legal Appoints Jackie Simpkin as Consulting Associate

IR Legal is pleased to welcome Jackie Simpkin to the firm as Consulting Associate.

Jackie is an experienced commercial lawyer and registered trade marks attorney with extensive expertise in intellectual property law, commercial law, employment law, and privacy law. She advises businesses of all sizes, from emerging start-ups to established organisations, providing practical, commercially focused legal solutions that support innovation, growth, and long-term success.

Jackie has significant experience across all aspects of intellectual property law, including trade mark and registered design filing and prosecution, brand protection, intellectual property licensing, commercialisation, and the enforcement of intellectual property rights. Her practice spans resolving disputes through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution, as well as representing clients in complex patent and trade mark infringement and invalidity proceedings before the Federal Court of Australia.

Beyond intellectual property, Jackie advises clients on a broad range of commercial law matters, including commercial agreements, contractual negotiations, business transactions, employment law, workplace compliance, and privacy obligations. She is recognised for providing strategic, commercially astute advice that helps clients protect their assets, manage legal risk, and achieve their business objectives.

Jackie's career includes experience with leading top-tier law firms, specialist patent attorney practices, and in-house legal roles. Her diverse professional background provides valuable insight into the legal and commercial challenges faced by businesses operating across a variety of industries.

She also holds a postgraduate qualification in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Melbourne and has undertaken MBA studies at Melbourne Business School, equipping her with a strong commercial perspective that complements her legal expertise.
